Pro Vida Animales is a new type of animal rescue charity; one that works to prevent the birth of puppies and kittens in the first place in southern Spain.

Rehoming dogs and cats will always be necessary, but only until we can prevent the arrival into this world of an exploding number of pet-type animals in the first instance.

Prevention  through neutering and education are the key.

Neutering of both male and female cats and dogs stops problems occurring in the first. Education, backed by help and assistance for those who, for whatever reason, cannot neuter the puppies and kittens around them, is paramount.

So too is a back-up service for lonely senior citizens who would love to keep a pet, but choose not to because they fear what will happen should they need to enter hospital, a care-home, or meet their own end.

Pro Vida Animales can be that back-up. It can also be the educator in the primary school (kindergarten), the visiting dog walking service that can assist the older person with caring for their live-in friend, and the visiting companion service that everyone knows will walk into every old-peoples’ care-home every day delivering unconditional love for all.

The rehoming of the existing animals already in this world is important, yes, but it was never going to be a cure for the over-population problem.

NEWS

Starting Summer 2018 Pro Vida Animales will be a small, start-up charity organisation with medium experience and a big heart. Join Us!

Our aims, in order of importance and effectiveness, are:

1…Introduce ‘capture and release’ programmes in local areas for stray dog and cat colonies.

2…Begin an emergency helpline for existing owners who are in need of emergency/ temporary help, for example, due to hospital admission, emergency inheritance, due work secondment, or similar. Emergency care.

3…Introduce a neighbour-support system whereby a younger neighbour might learn and be able to provide basic support to a more elderly, or disabled or similarly disadvantaged person such that they could continue to have a pet themselves while always knowing walking service and any vet visits would be possible.

2…Begin school education programmes for kindergarten age children on the importance of pet-type animals, their care and welfare. Includes kids reading to dogs.

3…Provide a mobile service to make neutering and other basic pet animal care available in the campo.

4…Introduce regular care-home visit programs for elderly residents, providing on-going companion-care for elderly persons. Introducing independent animal care to care-home companies such that they might provide such care independently in the future.

5…Provide local independent living older persons with veterinary, exercise and other ‘back-up’ support so that they might provide a home to an existing ‘stray’ animal.

NOTE: The Spanish and German versions

will be available soon.
